I have been sitting back on an accomplishment that I am so proud of. I didn't tell too many people because I did not want to seem like I was bragging. But you know what? I am learning to celebrate myself and all of my accomplishments...big and small. I am learning that a closed mouth does not get feed. I know that I need to stop being scared and tell people that I have a photography business. Renee Buckles Photography officially opened July 15, 2013, which is the date on my LLC for Certificate of Organization. Expect to hear me talk about my business more! Folks around here think I just open this year because I recently had a business shower.
Let me get back on the topic of my accomplishment. In the month of May...May 12th to be exact I wrote several things in my prayer journal. One of them was I am an award-winning successful business owner and photographer. Well, I made a last-minute decision to enter some of my photos to be judged in a photo contest. I had entered two photos previously and I did not win any awards. I was kind of down about my work, went about feeling like an imposter. Imposter Syndrome is real, but I have slain that devil.
I entered five photographs in The Portrait Masters Awards and this time, every last one received a Bronze Award! I am so proud of myself. I am tooting my own horn because the Lord has done this for me!
The best part is, every photo that I submitted had been purchased by my clients! So to have the judges say that my work is of professional quality means the world to this self-taught, God-given talent, and brings Big Energy to ALL her sessions Me! I am patting myself on the back. I know that my body of work has improved from the first time that I submitted it to The Portrait Master Awards. I plan on continuing to work on my craft so I can get the highest recognition and win in the categories that I submit. Next round I plan on entering the Boudoir Category along with the Portraits Category.
I plan to always submit so I can get better at my craft. I am passionate about photography and I am even more passionate about people printing your photos!
I still do portraits! Yes, I know I only talk about boudoir photography, but I still do women portraits. Everyone is not ready to do a boudoir session yet. Most of my sessions are portrait sessions and I am grateful for each one because I still get to work with women and build a bond with them. I love connecting with women and I love being a photographer. I see myself as necessary, incredibly gifted, and limitlessly impactful in helping other women see the greatness in themselves through portraits.
